A FORMER SPFL star has written the latest chapter of what has been a remarkable career.
He’s done it with a stunning free-kick on debut for his new club – where he signed just hours before playing his first game.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has played for a host of different clubs at different levels throughout his career.
Starting out in Arsenal‘s academy, the forward rarely managed first-team appearances at the Emirates, going on loans to Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers and Cardiff City.
After several permanent moves to lower-league English sides – and even a spell in Thailand – the Englishman spent a season each with Livingston and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.
The strange career moves didn’t stop, with Emmanuel-Thomas’ next three clubs being Jamshedpur in India, Kidderminster Harriers in the English sixth tier and Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship.

His time at Cappielow was typically short-lived though, as his contract was terminated in September last year after he appeared in court on a charge of attempted importation of class B drugs.
He pled guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison, but was released on parole and returned to England, signing for AFC Totton in July.
The next crazy step he made was to sign for a team in Baller League, a televised six-a-side football league which incorporates celebrities, influencers, and ex-professional footballers as managers and players.
That didn’t stop fifth-tier Braintree Town from taking a chance on him, announcing his signing just over an hour before their game against Truro City yesterday.
And they were immediately rewarded for that trust, as Emmanuel-Thomas came off the bench to hit a debut goal in the 85th minute of the eventual 2-0 win.
Having been fouled on the edge of the box, he picked himself back up and fired the kick into the top corner.
Emmanuel-Thomas was also voted Player of the Match on the club’s account on X, formerly Twitter, after the game.
