The 2025 Cayman Islands International Fishing Tournament is coming to an end, and anglers make their last attempt.
With 45 registered teams and 182 registered anglers, Cayman’s waters are busy and full of action as teams compete to secure the biggest catch before 4:30pm on 4 May.
The eligible species to be caught during this tournament include wahoo, yellowfin tuna, dolphin fish, and billfish.
Local and international anglers who have paid a base entry fee of US$500 per boat to compete becomes eligible for over US$65,000 in cash prizes.
Additionally, paying US$3500 per boat means the team is eligible for the Cayman National Jackpot. The payout for this entry is estimated at over US$100,000.
The tournament started on 29 April with registration, a captain’s meeting and a kickoff party at George Town Yacht Club in Grand Cayman and Captain’s Table in Cayman Brac.
Bimini Start kicked off bright and early at 7:30am on 1 May from the George Town Harbour in Grand Cayman and South Side Channel in Cayman Brac.
Weigh station times are 4:30-6:30pm at George Town Yacht Club in Grand Cayman and Channel Wharf in Cayman Brac.
An awards presentation will finalize the end of the tournament on Tuesday, 6 May from 7pm (location TBD).
