THE UK could host five more major sporting events over the next decade, with the 2030 Champions League final likely to be held at Wembley.
A number of major tournaments are already slated to take place on British shores in the coming years after the UK won the race to host Euro 2028.

That competition will see the European Championships staged across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
And there could be more major events to come as part of Government plans to bring more major sporting events to these shores, according to the Times.
The FA had previously expressed an interesting in staging the Champions League final at the national stadium in 2029, the report says, after competing with Barcelona‘s Nou Camp.
But with Madrid in line to host the 2027 edition, Barcelona will likely get the nod for 2029 because they will not be able to stage the 2030 due to Spain being World Cup hosts.

But having the 2030 edition at Wembley two years after the Euros would suit Government officials after Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy unveiled her ambitious strategy to increase the amount of sporting events in the UK.
One of those is hoped to be a part of the 2027 Tour de France, with the Grand Depart posed to take place in Edinburgh, making it the first time the stage has been hosted in Scotland.
London is also in the process of bidding for the 2029 World Athletics and Para-Athletics Championships.
The report also says in the UK is a strong favourite to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup after it was confirmed as the only “valid bidder”.

And it is hoped the UK can launch a bid to host the Ryder Cup in the same year.
Nandy announced the £900million strategy this summer, saying an exciting line-up of major events could inspire the next generation of sporting stars.
She said: “Sport tells our national story in a way few other things can – uniting communities, inspiring millions, and showcasing our nation on the global stage.
“This major backing for world-class events will drive economic growth across the country, delivering on our Plan for Change.
“Coupled with strong investment into grassroots sport, we’re creating a complete pathway to allow the next generation of sporting heroes to train and take part in sport in communities across the UK.”
The plans will also see £400m spent on upgrading grassroots facilities in local communities across the country.
There is already a strong line-up of events being staged in the UK over the next few years.
