Weeks three and four of the flag football summer premier league are in the books, marking the season’s midpoint.
As the season progresses, teams in all three divisions – men’s and women’s non-contact, and men’s contact – are raising the intensity of their play with playoff positioning firmly in mind.
Intensity ramps up in week three
On 19 July, marking week three of the league, BTA of the men’s non-contact division saw a breakthrough after entering the win column for the first time during this league with a 13-7 victory over the Anklebullies.
BTA’s defence included timely stops and pressure up front, while the offence did just enough to secure the win.
Returning from a bye week, I’Reign men dominated the Titans 30-6, fuelled by a smothering defensive performance.
In the women’s division, two teams delivered impressive shutouts.
The Lady Titans posted a decisive 18-0 victory over Nelson’s Athletics, while Lynx dominated both sides of the ball in a 21-0 win against the Vixens.
The men’s contact division was marked by physical, back-and-forth battles.
The Titans defeated I’Reign 19-13, making key late-game stops and managing the final possession to grab the win.
The Cobras delivered a complete performance, shutting out the Spartans 22-0.

The bar is raised in week four
Week four, which wrapped up on 2 Aug., brought late-game drama, breakout performances, and the first hints of playoff implications.
The men’s non-contact division featured an overtime thriller, with the Titans pulling out a narrow 7-6 win over BTA, securing their second win of the season.
BTA’s offence, led by Abdul Patterson and Maurice Rockett-McLaughlin in a creative Wildcat system, mounted long drives, but the Titans’ defence held strong, needing just one score in overtime to secure the victory.
A wildcat system is an offensive formation where the ball is snapped directly to a player other than the traditional quarterback.
The Cobras, in a dominant display, capitalised on a short-handed I’Reign team, posting a 38-9 win.
In the women’s division, the I’Reign ladies handed the Lady Titans their first loss of the season in a tense 7-6 battle.

The Lynx continued their offensive tear with a 33-12 victory over Nelson’s Athletics, behind standout performances from Christsania Parker and Vania Cornwall.
In a physical, low-scoring battle that went into overtime, the Spartans clinched their first win of the season in the men’s contact division with a 8-6 overtime final score against I’Reign.
Terrell Brathwaite was the hero, securing the victory with a walk-off interception that he returned for the game-winning touchdown.
Though a short-handed I’Reign fought hard throughout regulation, their final mistake proved costly.
The final game of week four saw the Titans prevailing 18-14 against Cobras.
With the Cobras holding a 14-12 lead in the final seconds, Will Peguero of Titans found Hayden Gray in the end zone to score the go-ahead touchdown and win the game.
Cobras had one last shot with under 10 seconds remaining, but the Titans’ defence held strong on the final possession.
