By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Brazilian side Fluminense FC secured a spot in the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal on Friday at tbe Camping World Stadium in Orlando.


The win sets up a tantalizing semifinal clash against the winner of Palmeiras vs Chelsea.

Fluminense took the lead late in the first half through Matheus Martinelli, who opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a composed finish from the edge of the area. But Al Hilal responded swiftly after the break. In the 51st minute, Marcos Leonardo leveled the match, finishing clinically after a well-timed run behind the Fluminense backline.
With the game finely poised, it was Hércules who emerged as the hero for the Brazilian side. The midfielder, later named Player of the Match, struck in the 70th minute with a powerful header off a corner, restoring Fluminense’s lead and ultimately sealing the win.
