Flyers Basketball and Potters Steelers closed out their best of three playoffs series in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition on Sunday night, after both teams won for a second straight time in the opening round at the JSC basketball complex.
Flyers, who captured the league title weeks ago, dominated Northside Stingerz to record a second straight blowout win over their rivals, claiming game two by a 110-56 margin. Flyers had beaten Stingerz 108-56 in the opening clash.
Flyers dominated the latest contest from start to finish, outscoring Stingerz 24-17 in the first quarter, 24-14 in the second, 28-13 in the third and 34-12 in the fourth.
Adonis Humphreys led the charge for the victors with a game high of 30 points and 26 rebounds. He had help from Selassie Brathwaite and Kwame Brathwaite with 18 and 16 points respectively. Selassie also had nine rebounds and five assists while Kwame picked up six rebounds and three assists. David Hernandez contributed with 14 points and four rebounds while Xavier Meade sank 11 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished eight assists.
Te-Ran Zachariah was the top performer for Stingerz with 29 points and 10 rebounds while Tristan Jacobs totalled 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Potters Steelers beat Ottos Full Throttle 91-80 as they closed out their series with a 2-0 sweep of the opponents.
Devorn Benjamin led for the victors with a game high of 26 points while Keroi Lee contributed with 21 points and a game high of 23 rebounds. Kereem Edwards and Cohen DeSouza both contributed with 19 points.
In a losing effort, Shawn Williams and Akeem Davis picked up 21 and 20 points respectively with Williams also grabbing five rebounds and Davis pulling seven of his own. Warren Bogle contributed with 21 points off the bench.
Meanwhile on Saturday, Da Project advanced to the next round with an 83-64 triumph over Ottos Warriors while Spanish Heat won by default over All Saints Slam to level their series 1-1.
