Teams competing in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Women’s Knockout Competition slated to kick off this Sunday and continue for two more weekends, are in for major financial gains with winners taking home $2500 and second place finishers claiming a $1000 prize.
Teams will compete again on June 29 and July 6 in separate knockout competitions with the winners and runners-up taking home similar cash prizes.
Eight teams, including reigning champions Lady Fort Road, will compete for top honours over the three aforementioned weekends. The other teams are Lady 5P’s Wadadli, Empire Trendsetters, Lady Masters, Cutting Edge FC, Young Warriors FC, Ottos Tigress and Wadadli United.
“This is the first of two female tournaments scheduled on the ABFA’s competitions calendar for 2025,” stated Sowerby Gomes, the ABFA’s Technical Director.
Gomes further stated that “the knockout competition was strategically scheduled to take place before the Female Premier League, therefore giving every team an opportunity to get some game time in ahead of their flagship competition.”
Games will be free to the public.
