FORMER Rangers and Aberdeen star Richard Foster has left his youth coach role at Motherwell.
Foster arrived at the Steelmen in March 2023 and became the club’s head of academy coaching.


He then moved to become lead development coach, working closely with the Under 18s group and helping to bring on the next generation of young talent.
The Lanarkshire outfit says he has departed the club to “explore opportunities elsewhere”.
Foster started out his playing career at Aberdeen and made over 270 appearances for the Dons.
He moved to Rangers on loan in 2010 featuring in a number of European games including Valencia and Sporting and helping them to win the SPL title.

A short spell at Bristol City followed before he joined Rangers permanently in 2013 as the club looked to plot a way back to the top flight following liquidation in 2012.
Foster was released by Rangers in 2015 after the Light Blues lost to Motherwell in the Premiership play-offs.
Foster revealed he was unhappy with his Rangers exit after learning through the press that he was being let go.
Further spells followed at Ross County (twice), St Johnstone, Partick Thistle and Detriot City.
He won the League Cup with the Staggies in 2016.
Meanwhile, former Motherwell winger Jim Paterson has joined the club as head of academy coaching.
He played more than 100 games for the Steelmen after making his senior debut in 2004.
He told the club’s official website: “It feels like I’m coming home.
“Fir Park is a special place to me, and I feel proud to have been trusted with this key role at the football club.
“Motherwell Football Club has a reputation for producing our own talent.
“It’s an exciting time to be working here too.
“The manager has been implementing a brand new style of football with the first-team, and it’s an opportunity to learn that approach.
“The young players can develop so much using this style, and I look forward to working with all of them.”
