The Grenada Football Association (GFA) is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated Summer of Soccer programme, kicking off on Monday, 7 July 2025 and continuing through 31 July, and again from 18–29 August.
The grassroots initiative is completely free of charge and is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16, offering an inclusive, skill-building football experience across all 7 parishes and Carriacou.
Sessions will be held Monday to Thursday, from 9 am to 12 pm at the following venues:
- St George: Queen’s Park and Morne Rouge
- St Andrew: Victoria Park
- St David: Belle Vue
- St John: Cuthbert Peters Park
- St Mark: Alston George Park
- St Patrick: Plains Playing Field and Fond Playing Field
- Carriacou: Hillsborough Playing Field
This annual programme is one of the flagship components of the GFA’s nationwide grassroots strategy, designed to nurture a love for football at an early age, develop technical skills, and identify future talent for national youth teams. The Summer of Soccer aligns with the GFA’s broader vision of achieving sustainable football growth, not only at the community level but also in domestic leagues and international competition.
“The Summer of Soccer programme is more than just a summer camp, it is a national movement to create access, build talent, and lay the foundation for Grenada’s future in football,” said GFA President Marlon Glean. “By making it free and accessible to every boy and girl across the country, we are reinforcing our commitment to inclusive development and long-term national success.”
What to expect
Each week includes structured sessions led by licensed GFA Coaches and grassroots educators. Children will engage in:
- Technical drills (dribbling, passing, shooting)
- Small-sided games
- Mini-tournaments every Thursday
- Fun community activities and mentorship opportunities
The programme concludes with a national festival showcasing participants’ development in a fun, friendly competition atmosphere. The GFA will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments, while participants are asked to bring a water bottle, snack, football shoes, and shin guards.
The programme will be supervised by a professional team at each centre, including a manager, head coach, and at least 3 certified grassroots educators, one of whom will be female. Coaches are selected from GFA’s pool of junior staff, club coaches, and trained senior players.
A community commitment
Through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Sports and local stakeholders, the Summer of Soccer also serves as a platform for community engagement, promoting values like respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship while keeping children positively engaged during the school break.
The GFA encourages parents across Grenada and Carriacou to register their children and take full advantage of this no-cost, high-impact opportunity.
