Marlon Glean, President, Grenada Football Association (GFA) has been appointed as a Member of the FIFA Technical Development Committee for the 2025–2029 term.
This decision, made by the FIFA Council in October 2025, reflects both Glean’s distinguished career in international football governance and Grenada’s rising stature in the global football community.
The appointment is subject to the relevant provisions of the FIFA Statutes and Governance Regulations, and marks yet another milestone in President Glean’s growing global influence as a voice for football reform, innovation, and equitable development, particularly in under-resourced yet talent-rich regions such as the Caribbean. He currently also serves as a member of Concacaf’s Football Development Committee, where he contributes to shaping regional strategies for advancing the game across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
“It is an honour to be entrusted with this responsibility,” Glean stated. “This committee plays a critical role in shaping the direction of global football development strategies, and I intend to ensure that the realities and aspirations of smaller nations are well-represented in those conversations,” he continued.
What this means for Grenada and the region
The FIFA Technical Development Committee is instrumental in defining and guiding football’s evolution across training methodologies, grassroots programming, elite youth development, and coaching education worldwide. President Glean’s participation will create a direct link between Grenada’s football ecosystem and FIFA’s strategic development frameworks, ensuring that the island nation has both visibility and influence in decision-making processes that affect technical growth globally.
This appointment not only enhances Grenada’s credibility on the international football stage, but also complements the GFA’s broader efforts to:
- Expand and professionalise grassroots programmes, including its revitalised Primary School Football competition and FIFA Talent Development support
- Accelerate the growth of women’s football, under new leadership with regional and international expertise
- Strengthen technical capacity across coaching and officiating, ensuring local football is played and managed at global standards
- Unlock investment in local infrastructure and talent, with improved technical direction
Reinforcing a global vision
President Glean’s appointment comes as he continues to receive invitations to speak at some of the most prominent football development forums around the world. This year, he has participated in the World Football Summit in Hong Kong, is slated to appear at Soccerex Miami, and has been invited as a guest speaker at the Africa Football Business Summit in Kenya and the Sports Investment Forum in Saudi Arabia in May 2026.
These engagements have positioned Grenada not just as a participant in world football, but as a thought-leader advocating for resilience, equity, and innovation in the sport’s future.
“This appointment consolidates our strategic direction at the GFA,” said Glean. “We are not just developing football in Grenada; we are helping redefine how development is approached in similar regions worldwide.”
