GORDON STRACHAN told a live event in Glasgow this week that the man Celtic want to replace Brendan Rodgers as next permanent boss won’t be available until DECEMBER.
Strachan’s co-host for the sold-out do at the Blackfriars pub in Glasgow‘s Merchant City on Tuesday night, Tam Cowan, made the shock claim on BBC Scotland’s Off the Ball show this lunchtime.
He went on to extrapolate that it means Wales boss Craig Bellamy is the man they want – but it’s worth pointing out that Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen will also be tied up until then until the Norwegian league wraps up.
The same could also apply to former Rangers manager target – and Ange Postecoglou‘s successor – Kevin Muscat.
So far, the early contenders for the post include Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna – with former England interim boss Lee Carsley also gaining ground in the betting.
Cowan said: “It’s Gordon Strachan, who’s a great draw.

“This was on the Tuesday night, Gordon is a bit of a Celtic legend, knows all the main characters in this story on the board.
“He’s been the former Celtic manager and his son Gavin has apparently survived the nuclear bomb that wen off.
“So Gordon is clearly in the know, he’s one of the most outspoken people in football that I know, particularly at a ‘private event’.
“Even then, he was ever so slightly cagey.
“But he won’t mind me sharing this because he did with the audience … according to Gordon Strachan the guy Celtic are after they won’t be able to get him until December.
“Now joining the dots with that the closest that we all came to was Craig Bellamy, an international manager just now, in terms of when the qualifiers finish although there could be playoffs after that.”
Knutsen’s name was also raised by a listener, with Cowan replying: “We could be warm.”
