After what Adonza Harrison describes as “a much-anticipated pause”, Guardians Alive marks its return this Easter with the Break the Record Speed TRIO Ultra Weekend.
The event, “an island-spanning experience rooted in endurance, culture and community,” is scheduled to run from 1-4 April across Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.
“The Ultra Weekend brings together local and international runners, walkers, families, creatives, volunteers and partners for a multi-day celebration of perseverance, wellness, and Caymanian pride,” said Harrison.
Participants in the upcoming TRIO series have three ways to participate: the inaugural 21.1K half-marathon held in Cayman Brac, the full 42.2K marathon and two-person relay, both hosted in Grand Cayman. Prospective runners must complete their registration for the TRIO by the 15 Feb. deadline.
The Caribbean Endurance Seminar, set for 3 April, is a major part of the weekend, headlined by “ultra-endurance icon James ‘Iron Cowboy’ Lawrence, alongside Olympian and internationally respected running coach Jeff Galloway, who will contribute through seminar participation and optional educational sessions designed to support runners as they prepare for their weekend goals.”
Harrison said the weekend is intentionally designed to ensure participants leave with more than a medal or t-shirt.
“The weekend integrates Caymanian culture, local artistry and community service, offering meaningful connections and experiences that reflect the islands themselves,” she shared.
“Participants and guests will have the opportunity to engage with local photography, fine art and handcrafted works from artists across both islands, including award-winning master artisans and emerging creatives such as Horacio Esteban, Rose May Ebanks, Lorna Reid, Gordon Solomon, Courtney Platt, Wil Bignal, David Goddard and Simone Scott, among others,” Harrison added.
She described this initiative as supporting local creatives while allowing visitors to return home with lasting pieces of Cayman’s heritage.

Providing more insight into the event, Harrison said, “community care remains a central pillar of the Ultra Weekend” and this will be demonstrated through “a free community breakfast” by local professional chefs set for 4 April.
“The breakfast is designed to serve volunteers, participants, underserved and less-abled community members and essential civil servants, including police officers and frontline workers,” she said.
“Guardians Alive is a Cayman Islands-based nonprofit initiative under Essential Living & Wellness, dedicated to promoting endurance, wellness, inclusion and community impact through sport, creative programming and service-driven events,” Harrison said.
As the countdown to April begins, the Guardians Alive organisation actively welcomes participants, volunteers and sponsors to be a part of the return by visiting their website and emailing the team at [email protected].
