HEARTS star James Penrice looks set to be on his way to Greece.
The left-back only joined the Jambos last summer but looks to be on his way after a stunning campaign.
Penrice, 26, came through the youth ranks at Partick Thistle before joining Livingston in 2021, a permanent switch to Almondvale after a loan spell earlier in his career.
In June last year, Penrice moved to Hearts on a three-year contract.
But after only 12 months, he looks set for a big move.
It’s understood Penrice is close to a transfer to AEK Athens, with a deal agreed between the clubs.
SunSport understands the Jambos could fetch up to £2million for the left-back, including potential add-ons.
He adds that the player “will now move to Greece soon.”
While it wasn’t the best of seasons for Hearts, Penrice excelled.
He was the club’s player of the year and was also included in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
Penrice would be linking up with some huge names at AEK.
Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial and ex-Tottenham and Argentina winger Erik Lamela are currently playing their trade there.
And he could also soon count a Rangers star as a teammate.
AEK are of course the club interested in signing Cyriel Dessers.
Despite reports more than a week ago that Dessers had agreed a deal, no agreement between the clubs has been reached.
While Penrice gets set for the exit door, there has been some major GOOD news for Hearts.
Captain Lawrence Shankland has officially signed a new contract, ending months of uncertainty surrounding his future.
The striker has signed on to stay at Tynecastle until 2028.
