POLICE SCOTLAND are probing alleged fraud at SPFL crisis club Hamilton Accies.
The SFA ruled this week that club owner Seref Zengin and sole remaining director Gerry Strain weren’t considered “fit and proper” people to run football clubs.


They were ordered to abandon any position of control, influence or administration they have at the club.
Recent seasons have seen the cash-strapped Accies land points penalties and fines for a number of financial misdemeanours, including failing to pay tax and paying players while under a transfer embargo.
And now SunSport understands they’re subject to a FRAUD investigation by Police Scotland.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Friday, 23 May, 2025, police received a report of alleged fraud in the Hamilton area.

The Scottish League 1 side, who were playing in the Premiership as recently as five years ago, have relocated to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld and recently posted a £1.8m loss on the club’s latest accounts.
When former Celtic general manager Jock Brown stepped down from his role at Hamilton Accies due to health reasons last week, sole remaining director Strain admitted it was a “very serious” and unusual situation.
