LUKE LITTLER can become world No1 at the Grand Slam of Darts if results go his way in Wolverhampton.
Just £52,500 separates The Nuke from his rival Luke Humphries in top spot.

A whopping £150,000 cheque is given to the winner of the event, meaning Littler can leapfrog Cool Hand if results go his way in Wolves.
The 18-year-old has made no secret of his aspirations to become world No1, saying: “Until I get that world number one spot, I will never call myself the best in the world.
“I don’t want to think about it too much, but I could be world number one before the World Championship.”
It would be quite the achievement considering Littler did not even hold a PDC Tour card two years ago.

How can Luke Littler become world No1 at the Grand Slam of Darts?
It is simple; Littler becomes undoubtedly the world’s best if he wins the title in Wolverhampton.
However, his chances at No 1 have never been better, as he will also become No1 if Luke Humphries fails to win the tournament.
Here are the permutations:
- Littler becomes world No1 if he wins the tournament.
- Littler becomes world No1 if Luke Humphries does not win the tournament.
Humphries will need to win the tournament, as he won the tournament in 2023, and the PDC Order of Merit is based on prize money won in a two year period.
This means that the prize money he won in 2023 will no longer count towards his ranking after the tournament.
Littler is set to become the youngest world No1 in darts history.
That record is currently held by Michael van Gerwen, who reached the summit at the age of 24.
