Nearly 900 people lost power in Durham when a tree fell onto power lines on Friday morning along Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
Around 6 a.m., smoke was seen rising from the tree, which stretched out over the eastbound lanes of the roadway. Several nearby traffic lights were out in the area. An estimated 886 Duke Energy customers were without power at one point.
Crews restored service later in the morning.
At Driftwood Manor apartments in Raleigh, an oak tree came down overnight and crushed a car in the parking lot. The fall was likely caused by overnight storms.
