Week four of the CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League was heavily impacted by inclement weather on 11 Oct., resulting in fewer matches and the need to abandon or postpone others.
In group A of the Primary Football League, Sir John A. Cumber Primary School visited Joanna Clarke Primary School in Savannah and emerged with one victory from their two games.
Both teams in the under-9 division kicked off the early game in favourable conditions but were met with ‘turbulent weather’ halfway through the game.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the officials and coaches agreed to continue the match, which saw Joanna Clarke Primary ultimately defeat Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9A with a score of 2-1.
Sir John A. Cumber Primary’s under-11 team turned the tables in the next match, overcoming the hosts with a score of 3-1.
In group B, Cayman Prep 9A were able to navigate through their game with Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9B, defeating their opponents 4-0.
All other scheduled games in both Group A and B were either postponed or abandoned due to the weather conditions.
In group A of the Girls’ Primary Football League, Sir John A. Cumber Primary overcame host team Joanna Clarke Primary 2-1 in wet conditions. The remainder of the girl’s games were postponed.
With the mid-term break approaching on 17 Oct. for most schools, several group A games of the Primary Football League were rescheduled and played earlier in the week.
In the under-9 division, St. Ignatius Catholic School earned a 2-1 victory over Cayman Prep and High School 9B on 7 Oct., while Marie Martin Primary School and Cayman International School (CIS) 9 White played to a 1-1 draw the following day.
For the under-11 division, St. Ignatius Catholic and Cayman Prep 11B finished in a 1-1 tie on 9 Oct., and Marie Martin Primary dominated CIS 11 White with a 4-0 win the next day.
Due to the increased number of schools participating in group A this year, organisers had to schedule matches for the first Saturday of the mid-term break, 18 Oct. These games are set to be played at the Annex Field, Camana Bay SC, and the West Bay Town Hall Field.
