The Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) successfully concluded the 2024/25 Inter-Schools Volleyball Championships with an impressive prize-giving and awards ceremony on Thursday at the YMCA Sports Complex.
The evening began promptly at 7:30pm with two exciting exhibition matches that showcased the best of local schools’ volleyball talent. Reigning champions Island Academy’s male and female teams faced specially selected All-Star squads comprising outstanding players from all schools that participated in this year’s tournament.
Following the exhibition matches, the formal ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of teams and individual players throughout the 2024/25 season. Island Academy was presented with championship trophies for both their male and female teams, cementing their status as the dominant force in school volleyball this year.




The trophies and medals presented during the ceremony were generously sponsored by ABAVA President Wilbur Harrigan, demonstrating the association’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating young volleyball talent in Antigua and Barbuda.
Inter-Schools Volleyball Competition Coordinator Urvin Lewis was acknowledged for his dedicated work throughout the season, ensuring the smooth operation of the championship from start to finish.
The schools collected their medals and trophies from ABAVA officials in recognition of their outstanding performances throughout the season. The final standings for the 2024/25 Inter-Schools Volleyball Championships were:
Female Division: 1st Place – Island Academy (Champions); 2nd Place – CKHS; 3rd Place – Antigua Girls’ High School.
Male Division: 1st Place – Island Academy (Champions); 2nd Place – Antigua Grammar School; 3rd Place – Harrison Center (formerly ABICE).
Island Academy’s sweep of both divisions highlighted their exceptional volleyball programs and established them as the premier volleyball school in Antigua and Barbuda for the 2024/25 season.
