Jennings Tigers handed a heavy defeat to Mahico, winning by 113 runs in a one-sided encounter in the ACB Thursday League T20 competition.
Batting first, Jennings Tigers built an imposing total of 210 for five in their allocated 17 overs, thanks to exceptional batting performances from their top order.
George Elvin led the charge with an unbeaten 57, anchoring the innings with controlled aggression and ensuring the Tigers maintained their momentum throughout.
National wicket-keeper/batsman D’ahri Francis complemented Elvin’s efforts with a brilliant 51, striking the ball cleanly and finding boundaries at crucial moments. The partnership between Elvin and Francis proved devastating for the Mahico bowling attack.
Dimitri Lucas provided valuable support with a quickfire 37, helping to accelerate the scoring rate and push the Tigers toward their formidable total. The trio’s combined efforts left Mahico facing a mountain to climb.
Chasing 211 for victory, Mahico found themselves immediately under pressure against disciplined bowling from the Tigers. Despite a fighting effort, they could only manage 97 for six wickets in their 17 overs, falling well short of the target.
Anthony Pierre showed resilience for Mahico, remaining unbeaten on 46 in a lone battle against the Jennings bowling attack. His knock provided some respectability to the total, but lack of support from the other end proved costly.
The Jennings Tigers bowling attack was clinical in their execution, never allowing Mahico batsmen to build substantial partnerships. Emroy Lee was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two for 31 with Bassanio Joseph providing excellent support, also taking two for 37.
The victors will now prepare for the eliminator match against the defending Champions Rising Sun Spartans on Thursday at the Rising Sun Ground for their chance to redeem themselves against New Winthorpes who have qualified for the finals.
