A historic day unfolded for the John Gray High School as their under-13 boys football team secured a 4-1 victory over Cayman International School Blue in the finals of the 2025 Dart Under-13 Boys Football League.
The victory, earned on 30 Oct., saw the John Gray squad etch their name in the history books by claiming the tournament’s Champions Cup, marking the first time the team has won the trophy since the league’s inception in 2017.

John Gray’s goal-scoring was spread among four players, with strikes coming from Kailan Webb, Xavi Tibbetts, Orantis Rankin Jr. and the standout league MVP, Samuel Powery.
The triumphant side was captained by Jaharri Ebanks, guided on the sidelines by coach Chase Myrie and managed by physical education head of department Carl Morgan.
Myrie praised his squad’s performance in the decisive match, stating, “The boys’ execution of the tactics and their willingness to win every battle on the field was the difference in the game for us.”
He hopes the experience will resonate beyond the pitch saying, “The significance of this win will allow the boys to know the true meaning of what it takes to be winners. I am hoping that they will be able to translate all of what they went through to other areas of their lives.”
Myrie also issued a confident declaration for the future of the school’s sports programme, adding, “It also shows that John Gray is a force to be reckoned with and we will make sure that is the case for many years.”
John Gray’s secondary PE teacher, Aaron Pollard, highlighted that, “The victory is also testament of the work done in the YMCA After School programme and the various football clubs.”
In the battle for third place, Cayman Prep 13A defeated Clifton Hunter High School 5-0 to claim the spot.

In the girls’ division, defending champions Cayman Prep dominated, securing the Champions Cup with a commanding 5-0 victory over their neighbours, St. Ignatius Catholic School.
Olivia Blair led Prep’s unstoppable offense with two goals, supported by single strikes from Chloe Purvis, Clara Walker and Lela Turrell, securing the necessary victory to retain the Dart Cup.
In the Consolation Cup, the Cayman International School girls defeated Clifton Hunter High School 2-1 while the boys saw St. Ignatius defeat Cayman Prep 13B with a final score of 2-0.
