JORDAN HENDERSON is reportedly set to leave Ajax this summer – opening the door to a potential move to Ibrox.
The Liverpool legend has been linked with a stunning switch to Rangers as part of Steven Gerrard‘s coaching team should he land the manager’s job.
Gerrard has emerged as one of the leading contenders for the role and he set tongues wagging when he was spotted back in the UK earlier today.
Gerrard is one of several names understood to be on the shortlist, with Russell Martin, Davide Ancelotti and Brian Priske all believed to be on the Gers’ radar.
Rumours have swirled in recent weeks suggesting Henderson will link up with the fellow Anfield legend if he completes his sensational return to Glasgow.
However, his contract with Ajax – which runs until next year – has left many fans doubtful that a deal could be on the cards.

But according to reports from the Netherlands, Henderson, 34, is expected to leave the Amsterdam club this summer.
De Telegraaf claim Ajax want to offload the midfielder due to his high salary and are ready to part ways.
The 83-cap England international joined the Dutch giants last year after ending his nightmare spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq – Gerrard’s old club.
The latest developments regarding his future puts his former manager and Rangers on alert.
The report suggests Henderson WOULD be interested in linking up with Gerrard once again in Scotland.
But as things stand, it’s suggested the most likely move for the midfielder would be north of the border to England.
Ex-Sunderland chief Niall Quinn has tipped the 34-year-old to make a sensational return to his old club Sunderland instead.
Speaking this week, he said: “Well, I had it from the day Jordan left and Liverpool paid us £20million back in the day that there was a big wide door open for him any time he wanted to come back.
“Obviously, it’s not my business to do anything but just comment on that. But wouldn’t it be something else?
“I think he’s been a credit to the game, his hard work and his team play. He’s a real sort of driver.
“He went up to Liverpool, that first year was really tough and a year later, Jordan turned it all around and he was a huge influence.
“To see him lift that Champions League trophy, I think made everybody in Sunderland very proud.”
