Leeward Islands Under-19s Women needed just 8.4 overs to overhaul the 75-runs target set by the Guyana Under-19s Women and win by seven wickets in their rain affected West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship match at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex in Trinidad on Tuesday.
The Leeward Islands batting was led by opener Sainavi Kambalapalli as she ended on 37 not out off 21 deliveries. She struck eight fours on her way to the total. Jahzara Claxton chipped in with 21 from 13 deliveries, hitting three fours and a six in the process.

There was one wicket each for Crystal Durant and Danellie Manns who claimed one for 28 and one for 10 respectively.
Earlier, Guyana had won the toss and opted to bat but were restricted by excellent bowling from Kambalapalli who bagged four for 22 in seven overs and Courtney Browne with three for 11 in five overs. There was one wicket each for Claxton (1/8) and Aaliyah Weekes (1/16) as Guyana were all out for 74. Leeward Islands also bowled 27 extras in the process.
The win was Leeward Islands’ second in four matches while the loss was Guyana’s second in four outings.
