Antigua and Barbuda’s young table tennis athletes delivered an inspiring performance at the 2025 Caribbean Regional Youth Championships, held April 20–26 at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Barbados.
Stuti Kashyap led the way, claiming a brilliant second place finish in the Girls’ U19 Singles. She demonstrated composed and skillful play to advance through the group stage and knockout rounds. Kashyap defeated strong opponents from across the region before finishing as runner-up in a spirited final. Her silver-medal performance highlights her growing reputation as one of the Caribbean’s rising stars.
Mekhi Simmons and Barrington Loague also made encouraging international debuts. Though they did not advance past the early rounds, their determination, adaptability, and positive attitude made their participation a true success story, laying a strong foundation for future growth.
Special recognition goes to Aleena Edwards of Trinidad and Tobago, who served as coach and chaperone for Kashyap, providing critical support and expert guidance throughout the competition. Team Manager Tritia George ensured smooth logistics and provided invaluable leadership to the team.
“We are incredibly proud of how our athletes represented Antigua and Barbuda,” said Charles ‘Chucky’ Bellot, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association. “Their performances, both on and off the table, show that our future in table tennis is bright. Special thanks to Aleena and Tritia for their outstanding support.”
The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) extends heartfelt congratulations to all athletes and staff for a job well done.
Very special mention and appreciation to the Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee for making the team’s participation in the championships possible.
