KELECHI IHEANACHO last night vowed to repay Brendan Rodgers’ faith and fire Celtic to more silverware.
The Nigerian striker has joined up with the Hoops squad after arriving on a free transfer last week.
Iheanacho, 28, hopes to make his debut Kilmarnock on Sunday and has set his sights on delivering trophies for Rodgers.
He told Celtic TV: “The manager has been massively important in my career.
“He looked after me very well at Leicester City and gave me the opportunity to show my talent and win trophies there.
“I am ready to play. I have always been ready since I started playing football.

“When I came in here, I looked at all the trophies Celtic have won.
“It was 50-something, 20-something…they are used to winning.
“That is something normal and they are comfortable doing that.
“Hopefully I will be part of that great thing here and will join them in winning trophies.
“I want to play my part to help the team to do that.
“To win something you need to work your socks off and work hard. That is something they have done over the years.
“Every single year, Celtic keep doing it – they keep winning trophies.
“This is a massive club in a massive city and I am happy to be here.”
Iheanacho reunited with former Foxes boss Rodgers after ripping up his Sevilla contract.
The former Man City kid played the best football of his career under the Celtic gaffer.
And he is convinced Rodgers can spark him into life after a difficult spell in Spain.
Iheanacho said: “He’s a great manager and a great person, with a good personality.
“I am happy to be playing under him again and I am happy to be a Celtic player and to be play for this great club.
“His man management is great and he knows how to manage players.
“He’s a great guy and he has that gift to work with them very well.
“He looks after you on and off the pitch – he’s very good at that.”
Iheanacho has been put through his paces at Lennoxtown in the last few days.
And he will get a chance to meet up with close pal Kasper Schmeichel when he returns from Denmark duty.
But the Nigeria star doesn’t expect to have any problems settling in at Celtic after being made to feel welcome already.
He said: “It was lovely to be out there training and it’s a great group of boys.
“I think I will fit in on and off the pitch. It will be good and I know some of the guys and they are all lovely.
“I played with Kasper at Leicester for a few years and he’s a good friend.
“I also know some of the staff too. I was next to Kasper in the dressing room at Leicester and it’s the same here.
“It’s like deja vu but he’s a funny guy and a great leader.
