Veteran player, Bernard “King Premier” Willock, claimed top honours in the Cool & Smooth Invitational Draughts Tournament after amassing 64 points from eight matches following four wins on day three at the event held at the Gray’s Green Community Basketball Court on Wednesday night.
Willock had wins against Tion Grant (7-1), Elvis Cordice (9-0), Anthony ” Tony” Gomes (9-0), and Stevenson “Smoothie” Vital (5-2) on Wednesday, to finish his campaign unbeaten and lift the coveted title.
In other matches contested Wednesday night, St Clair Josiah defeated Eustace “Zocio” Samuel 6-3; Elvis Cordice beat Amakusa Jeremiah 9-0; Josiah had the better of Grant 7-1; Jeremiah defeated Samuel 7-1 and Josiah beat Vital 7-1.
There was victory as well for Gomes over Samuel 9-0 and Cordice over Samuel 7-1. Josiah and Jeremah played to a 4-4 draw, Cordice and Grant also played to a 4-4 draw while Jeremiah and Vital played to a 3-3 draw.
Action in the tournament was expected to conclude on Thursday night (September 25).
