AFTER a weekend of drama in the Scottish Premiership, who does Kris Boyd have as his favourites to win it all?
Our top columnist was on our Go Ballistic podcast this week alongside Robert Grieve and Jonathan Moar to discuss the weekend’s football storylines.
Both Robert and Kris were at Tynecastle to witness the excitement of the 2-2 draw between Hearts and Celtic, keeping the gap between those two sides to six points.
But along the M8, Rangers were in action against Dundee and their 3-0 win saw them leapfrog their Glasgow rivals and pull closer to the table-toppers from Edinburgh.
With that in mind, Kris has named the Ibrox club as his new tip to lift the Premiership trophy.
Speaking on Go Ballistic, he said: “I’ll be honest with you, right now looking at it, for Hearts yesterday was another game against one of their nearest competitors that they’ve failed to win.
“But they’re in a good place. I think their fixtures coming up will test them, it’s Dundee United away, St Mirren away, then at home in the derby.
“But you then look at Celtic’s fixtures, they seem to be a little bit more favourable for them, especially with a couple of home games.
“Rangers have to go to Easter Road off the back of a trip to Portugal during the week, it’s going to be difficult.
“But again if Rangers can go there and win, it’s another difficult away game ticked off.

“If it was either Rangers or Celtic at the top of the table right now, you would say whoever is at the top would be favourites.
“I think Hearts are still in a very good position, Celtic, if they get players in, you never know what’s going to happen, Rangers have managed to get themselves back into it, been on a fantastic run, they’ll be looking to continue that.
“So on that note, I think Rangers will win the league!
“But you could make a case for all three of them.”
After the toxicity that marred the end of Brendan Rodgers‘ Celtic reign and Wilfried Nancy’s the disastrous spell had at Parkhead, Boyd insists there is scar tissue for the green and white half of Glasgow to deal with.
He said: “A lot of people are scarred.
“You can look at the past with Celtic, but this is not the same Celtic team that’s been winning trophies for years.
“There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, I think most fans think they know what’s going on, but it’s got to be a lot deeper than what’s actually happening.
“Celtic have managed to find a way to win over the years, and by the way, they still might find a way to do it, but it’s not the same Celtic team that’s been able to do that for a period of time now.”
As the transfer window heads into its final week, it’s Rangers who appear to be the busiest out of the top three.
Danilo could be on his way out and the Light Blues could have a new striker in the form of Ryan Naderi coming in.
And Kris doesn’t expect the new signings to stop there.
He said: “Danny Rohl has been given money to go and get them and I think even if the German kid comes in, Rangers will still look to strengthen with another one.
“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think they would have expected Danilo to go.
“They might have been hoping, but I don’t think they would have expected to get a permanent bid.
“So if they were already in the market for another one, they could go back in again.
“Bojan Miovski has really, really struggled, for whatever reason, I don’t know why.
“I thought it would have been a good signing for Rangers.
“Youssef Chermiti has obviously had his issues as well.
“When you look at both of them, they’ve managed to find the net but not at the level that’s required to be a Rangers number nine.
“I still think Danilo’s the best finisher at club but his injury record‘s been terrible, he’s just never got going.
“Rangers would be absolutely buzzing if they recoup some of the money they spent on him, because it was a hell of an outlay for him, and he has struggled.
“If they can get anything back for him and get someone else in, add some firepower, they have got a serious, serious chance of going and landing this title.
“You kind of get the feeling that the club sense that they realise they made a total mess of it at the start of the season but they’re well on their way to rectifying that now.”
