Leeward Islands were beaten by eight wickets when they met Barbados in the ongoing West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 Championship in St Kitts on Wednesday.
Playing at the St Paul’s Sports Complex in Basseterre, Leeward Islands were bowled out for 154 in 34.5 overs after being put in to bat by the opponents.
The sub-regional team’s batting was led by Kunal Tilokani who made 37 from 58 deliveries. His knock included two fours. There was help from the Captain, Matthew Miller, who made 31 from 41 balls. The Antiguan’s knock included three fours. Eirette Richards was the only other batter of note with 21 from 15 which included four fours.


Damani Roach and Raphael Lovell both claimed three wickets bowling for the opponents with Lovell taking three for 19 in six overs and Roach picking up three for 33, also in six overs. Zachary Carter snatched two for 31 in 7.5 overs. There were 32 extras bowled.
When their turn at the crease arrived, Barbados needed just 25.3 overs to reach their target, finishing on 156 for two. Opener, Micah Greenidge led from the front with 85 from 74 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and two sixes at a strike-rate of 115. Captain Joshua Dorne was not out on 42 from 58 balls with three fours.
There was one wicket each for Miller and Tilokani as they bagged one for 38 and one 17 respectively. Fourteen extras were bowled.
It’s the second defeat in three matches for the Leeward Islands Under-19s.
