THE reason why Luke Littler announced he was taking a “step back” from darts has been revealed after he sent fans into meltdown on Thursday.
A video posted on his social media earlier this week in which he appeared to hint he could be winding down his darts career quickly went viral.
However it’s now all become clear after he appeared in an advert for Xbox.
The tongue in cheek commercial with the Nuke suggests he wants to make time for his other passion – video games.
Littler is a well known fan of the EA FC series, formerly known as Fifa, and he appeared in Xbox’s promotional video for FC26.
The video game releases next week and Littler seems like he is going to spend plenty of time playing it.
The ad begins with Littler announcing he will be taking some time away from darts.
He says: “It will shock some people that I’m taking a step back.
“It’s not been an easy decision. Now I want to focus on something that I really love.”
The video then cuts to Littler walking through a retirement home in a dressing gown emblazoned with an Xbox logo.

He then comes across the streamer, his friend, AngryGinge, playing a game of chess with an elderly resident.
The pair then walk down a corridor together and reach the games room, where Littler loads up his Xbox to play FC26.
After Thursday’s shock announcement, many fans theorised Littler was taking time away from darts to play video games.
In the video, Littler said: “I’ve had an awesome career. I couldn’t ask much better for myself. You know it’s been two full-on years.
“The Premier League at the age of 17 on debut, the nine darters on TV, winning the world championships at 18 – the youngest to ever do it.
“I just want to say thank you to all my fans because the last two years have been phenomenal.
“It’ll shock some people. It’s not been an easy decision. Now I want to focus and do something I really love.”
However, after leaving his seat, the microphone picks up some chatter from Littler in the background, which hears him saying: “Do you think they’ll fall for that?”
