DUNFERMLINE chairman David Cook has hailed Neil Lennon’s impact and insists they are hopeful of tying their manager down on a new deal.
Former Celtic and Hibs boss Lennon achieved his target of keeping the Pars in the Championship after signing a short-term deal in March.
And Cook insists negotiations aimed at extending his stay in the dugout are heading in the right direction.
Cook said: “The appointment of Neil Lennon has played a big part in the club and fans feeling more connected for the run in.
“His management skills along with his stature, values and character played a significant role in helping us get the points we needed to stay up. We have all loved having him at the club.
“Negotiations always take time, but talks are progressing, and we are hopeful that we can put something in place for a future with Neil and his assistant Iain Brunskill.

“Neil’s initial appointment and the subsequent desire to extend his stay does give an indication to the scale of the ambition for your club under our new owners, James Bord and Evan Sofer.”
Meanwhile, Dunfermline are also in talks with Victor Wanyama and five other out of contract stars over new deals.
The club announced this week in a statement to supporters that they’re keen to hold onto the Kenyan for at least another season.
The Celtic hero, 33, reunited with his former Hoops boss Lennon when he joined the Scottish Championship side on a short-term deal in March.
He received a red card on his debut and started just one game – the final league fixture of the season against Morton.
But Pars chiefs believe he could have a major part to play in the team next season should they tie him and Lennon down on new terms.
