MANCHESTER UNITED legend Bryan Robson is in attendance to watch Middlesbrough today alongside club owner Steve Gibson.
The pair were spotted together at Riverside Stadium hours after the club announced that Boro boss Rob Edwards had been given permission to speak to Wolves over filling their vacant manager role, and would not take charge of that day’s fixture.
Robson could not have picked a more tense game to attend as the managerial role was forced to be temporarily filled by first-team coaches Adi Viveash and Harry Watling, and academy manager Craig Liddle.
The Championship side had initially knocked back an approach for their manager, who made a century of appearances for Wolves as a player.
But Edwards was stood down ahead of Boro’s game with Birmingham City on Saturday, after the club relented and announced that talks between the parties had begun.
Wolves identified priority target Edwards, who also has experience coaching the club’s youth teams, after first-choice Gary O’Neil pulled out of the running on Thursday.

The developments have not gone down well with the Boro faithful, who were heard during the match singing: “Rob Edwards is a w***er.”
One man who is no stranger to the pressure of the Riverside crowd is Robson, 68, whose appearance has driven fan speculation of a spectacular return to his former club.
The ex-England international is best known for his 13-year spell with United, where he made almost 450 appearances and became the longest serving captain in club history.
At the end of his playing career, Robson decided to make the move into management.
