The Antigua & Barbuda Master Blasters provided an excellent all-round performance to defeat Combined Islands by seven wickets at Pigotts on Thursday in the Leeward Islands T20 Cricket Festival.
Combined Islands batted first and were restricted to 102 all out in 19.3 overs, as Zawandi Whyte top-scoring with 30 and Mrinal Wadhwa contributed 28 runs from 33 balls, while Shernyl Burns added a quickfire 18 from 10 balls.
The home side bowling attack was clinical in dismantling the Combined Islands batting lineup, as captain Rahkeem Cornwall picked up four wickets for just 7 runs in a devastating spell. Jedidiah Martin, on debut, contributed two wickets for 14 runs with Hadyen Walsh Jr taking two for 29.

The Master Blasters’ chase was dominated by an exceptional innings from the in-form Kofi James, who remained unbeaten on 53 runs from just 32 balls.* His explosive knock featured three fours and five towering sixes, single-handedly dismantling the Combined Islands bowling attack.
*The victory saw them reach 104 for three in just 11.2 overs, winning by seven wickets with over 8 overs remaining.* James’ masterful innings and Cornwall’s exceptional bowling figures proved to be the difference between the two sides, showcasing the depth and quality in Antigua & Barbuda’s squad. Earlier, Anguilla overpowered Nevis by 39 runs with Jahmar Hamilton once again starring with the bat with a well-played 96 to help his side win by 39 runs and to stay unbeaten in the tournament.
Antigua and Barbuda will take on the Combined Virgin Islands on Saturday evening at 7pm at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
