Barbados and West Indies cricket superstar Hayley Matthews heads a list of nominees for the Cricket West Indies (CWI) and West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) awards gala.
Matthews, who ranks among the greatest players of all time, has been in amazing form over the last 24 months. She led the West Indies to the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and captain Barbados Royals to the Women’s CPL title. She is expected to take home the awards for Women’s T20 Player of the Year and Women’s ODI Player of the Year.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Wyndham Grand Sam Lord’s Castle on June 22. It will also serve as a tribute to one of the most defining moments in West Indies cricket history — the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Cricket World Cup victory, under the captaincy of the great Sir Clive Lloyd.
