Antigua and Barbuda’s Micah McKenzie and Matthew Miller were in fine form on opening night of the Cool & Smooth St. Kitts and Nevis T20 Tournament with McKenzie claiming a five-for and Miller earning a Player of the Match accolade.
Representing the Dolphins, McKenzie who was a standout in the recently held West Indies Breakout League, bagged five wickets for 15 runs but it was not enough to push his team over the hump as they went under to Snappers by 27 runs.
The Antiguan’s performance helped to restrict Snappers to 125 for eight in their 20 overs with an 18-ball 33 from Adrian Williams laying the platform. Stand-in captain Jerel Cornelius hit 24 and Walton Edwards added 17.
During the chase, Snappers’ bowlers applied relentless pressure. Kian Pemberton’s early breakthroughs included the crucial wicket of Leeward Islands stalwart Colin Archibald, who had scored a resilient 51 off 49 balls. Pemberton’s disciplined four for 18 was complemented by Adrian Williams’ economical two for 11.

The bowling plans effectively curtailed the Dolphins’ scoring opportunities, and despite Archibald’s determined effort, Brownhill were restricted to 98 in the 19th over of the rain-affected clash.
Meanwhile, Miller picked up three wickets for 11 runs as Blue Runners enjoyed a six-wicket win over Barracudas.
After winning the toss, the Blue Runners, led out by Jacques Taylor, elected to bowl first. The decision paid off immediately as Miller effected a run out, reducing the Barracudas to 10 for one early on. However, the pressure eased thanks to a brilliant innings from captain Cameron Pennyfeather, who scored 64 off just 37 balls, including eight fours and two sixes. He was well supported by opening batter Shelton Forbes with 24 as Barracudas posted 136 for nine.
In reply, the Blue Runners’ chase was anchored by South African wicketkeeper-batter Ruve Lowe, who played a composed and patient innings. His unbeaten 68 off 54 balls provided a steady foundation, while Jaleel Clarke contributed a rapid 48 from 36 deliveries. Two quick wickets from Javarl Warde (2-21) threatened to destabilise the chase, but Lowe held firm to guide the Blue Runners home, reaching 140 for four with 3 balls to spare.
