
The Cayman Islands continued its impressive showing at the Island Games in Orkney on Thursday, bringing its total medal tally to 30, with one day of competition remaining.
Cayman remains in fifth position in the medals table at these bi-annual games.
Cayman’s swimmers led the charge Thursday with five new medals.
Will Sellars secured a silver in the men’s 100m backstroke, with a time of 56.01.
Sellars and teammates James Allison, Lev Fahy and Daniel Kish also won bronze, in a combined time of 3:21.55, in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
The mixed 4x50m freestyle relay team featured Allison and Kish who established an early lead before Eva Oldfield and Sierrah Broadbelt powerfully fended off the Isle of Man to finish first.
Their winning time of 1:37.37 not only secured the gold medal, but also set a new Island Games record, concluding the swim competition on a high note.

Broadbelt won two more medals, including a gold, on Thursday, to bring her medal count in individual events to five.
She won the women’s 200m butterfly in a time of 2:14.43, and placed second in the 50m backstroke, with a time of 28.31.
In gymnastics Thursday, Karthik Adapa added another gold to his impressive tally, this time in the men’s FIG overall individual, bringing his personal total to six medals (two gold, two silvers and two bronze).
More medals are up for grabs in gymnastics on Friday, with four of Cayman’s gymnasts qualified for finals – Adapa, Sienna Santiago, Zoey Anderson and Justin Spencer.
On the water Thursday, Cayman also secured a medal, when Will Jackson earned a bronze in the ILCA 6, securing the first and only sailing medal for Cayman.
