AN UNLUCKY linesman was left drenched by a “waterfall” thanks to a leaky roof.
The official was running the line during Stockport’s Vertu Trophy fixture against Wigan.


The match was SUSPENDED due to the heavy rain that hit the Hatters’ Edgeley Park.
The torrential rain hammered the pitch and left it unplayable before referee Scott Oldham halted play.
But before then the players and officials tried to soldier on through the wet conditions.
One linesman was left soaked after he was caught by a “waterfall” pouring from the leaky roof above.

He was left with little choice but to accept his water-filled fate as he tried to stick to the last defender.
A video captured from the stands showed his shirt wet-through as the crowd saw the funny side.
Laughter could be heard coming from the fans every time the official was caught in the pouring water.
The video was shared on social media for more fans to savour his unlucky moment.

Stockport and Wigan were locked in a 1-1 stalemate when the match was suspended.
The initial break was supposed to last 15 minutes but play was yet to restart after half an hour.
The match eventually resumed at 9.20pm and the game ended with Stockport earning an extra point in the Vertu Trophy clash after penalties.
