FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, March 13–14 — It’s usually impossible to say Washington pole vaulter Hana Moll is in a class by herself, since she has an identical twin sister — who happens to be the defending champion and the meet and Collegiate Record holder.
This year, however, Amanda only competed once this season and was not present in Fayetteville, allowing Hana to dominate the vault on her own.
After leaving behind the South Dakota duo of Marleen Mulla at 15-1½ (4.61) and Anna Willis at 14-11½ (4.56), Moll continued her clean card through two more heights until her first hiccup at 15-9¾ (4.82). On her second attempt she cleared it, good for No. 4 on the all-time collegiate performance list — the three higher marks are all owned by either her or sis.
It was Hana’s third NCAA title — she won outdoors last season and indoors in ’24.
Hana admitted it was strange competing without her sibling. “Unfortunately, she’s not gonna be here because her finals align the same day I compete, so it’s really unfortunate,” she said in the premeet press conference. “But I’ve been FaceTiming her every night, and I don’t think she said anything explicitly, but we don’t really need to say anything to each other to wish each other luck, just because our connection is so strong and we both love each other.”
Other indoor list rewrites came in the shot, high jump and weight, with the winners notching the 6th-, 6th- and 5th-best collegiate performances, respectively.

Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson dominated the shot by more than a meter, her 64-1¾ (19.55) well clear of Mississippi’s Akaoma Odeluga’s 60-6½ (18.45). Any of Johansson’s six throws would have won, and the Swede’s second-best of 63-11½ (19.49) also makes the list at 8th. Like Moll, it was her third NCAA crown — she won this meet last year and outdoors in ’23.
She missed the meet record by just a centimeter. “I’m super happy with how I threw, that I’m consistent,” she said. “I’m very happy; that’s unfortunate that it’s only one centimeter, but I still think I did a good job.”
In the high jump, Texas Tech’s Temitope Adeshina defended her title with an =PR and =6 collegiate performance at 6-5½ (1.97). She took three cracks at 6-6¾ (2.00), which would have equaled the Collegiate Record, but none were close.
“I feel so good and happy, and grateful at the same time,” said Adeshina, who hails from Nigeria. “Because winning the NCAA nationals, it shows the work I’m putting in. Something is showing the work I’m doing, the results. So I am having good results by winning.”
A slightly closer competition came in the weight, where Minnesota’s Annie Nabwe reached 82-5½ (25.13) (10, x W; 3, 5 C) and added a backup throw of 81-5¾ (24.83) (6, 9 C). She faced mild pressure from Illinois’ Phethisang Makhethe, who hit 80-¾ (24.40) (9, x C). It was a substantial improvement over 11th last year for the Liberian junior.
“I started the weight throw a couple of years ago, and I never thought I was going to be in [this] position,” Nabwe said. “The previous years have been hard, and just coming here and having one of the best series of my life, it means a lot that I was able to and I don’t have to be scared.”
Makhethe’s 8 points were part of what could have been an historic first. When Illinois rolled up 30 points on Day 1 and entered Day 2 with six entries, it seemed possible they could win the championship with only field and multi-event athletes.

That dream fizzled when only two of the six produced points. With no track athletes in the finals, the Illini could only watch from the stands as Georgia and Oregon runners pushed them down to 3rd.
After JaiCieonna Gero-Holt started their campaign with a 2nd place in the hept (4466, good for 10th all-time American collegian), the field points began rolling in from Makhethe and Jordan Koskondy (5th) in the weight and Sophia Beckmon (1st) in the long jump.
The next day, Illinois extended its lead in the high jump when Rose Yeboah placed 2nd — to match the Ghanian senior’s ’25 Outdoor finish — and Gero-Holt was part of a 3-way tie for 4th. But the end came when three triple jumpers and a pole vaulter drew blanks.
Beckmon is also a sprinter, but not for this meet. Her 22-5¼ (6.84) put her ahead of Stanford’s Alyssa Jones at 21-11¾ (6.70). Beckmon, a junior, was 5th last year.
“Ever since freshman year, I knew I was one of the top competitors here,” Beckmon said. “[I just had to] actually come out and be myself. It is very reassuring. I have very high standards for myself, and I honestly like that. I like the high competition, I like the very competitive atmosphere. Today it was all about me beating myself and I’m very happy about that.”
The triple jump went to Kansas State’s Daniela Wamokpego. Her 45-5 (13.84) narrowly edged Clemson’s Shantae Foreman, who reached 45-3½ (13.80).
