NACHO NOVO has taken training for the first time at his new club just yards away from where he became a Rangers hero.
The Spaniard has been appointed the manager of Darvel – his first managerial gig in Scotland– and he’s wasted no time in getting to work with the players.


The Ayrshire outfit – famous for knocking Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup – heralded “a new era” on X.
Pictures and video from the club’s X account revealed the team were being put through their paces at the Ibrox Football Centre.
Novo joined the West of Scotland First Division side after leaving his coaching position at Drumchapel United.
The club announced a statement confirming the move, it said: “Darvel FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Nacho Novo as the club’s new first team manager.

“Nacho brings a wealth of experience and a passion for developing talented players, and we look forward to working together as we continue to build for the future. Welcome to Darvel FC, Nacho!”
The 46-year-old’s first taste of Scottish football was as a player when he signed for Raith Rovers from Huesca in 2001.
His performances attracted the attention of Dundee and he had two successful seasons at Dens Park before he earned a move to Rangers.
He became a firm fan favourite at Ibrox during his six years at the club.
And helped the Gers to win six trophies, including three league titles and was also a Uefa Cup finalist.
Novo struck 72 times in 253 appearances for the Light Blues with almost half coming from the bench.
After various spells in Spain, Poland, Britain and the US, Novo retired in 2017 and moved into coaching and management.
Novo was assistant and briefly manager at third-tier US side Lexington Sporting Club before returning to Scotland last year.
