A FORMER Rangers player and serious contender for the manager job before Danny Rohl was appointed is also in the running for the vacant Celtic post.
The Hoops are continuing their search for a successor to Brendan Rodgers after his departure on Monday, with Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney in charge during the interim.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is in the frame and is currently the bookies’ favourite to land the role.
Ange Postecoglou is also among the names being touted for a return to Celtic Park.
Current interim boss Martin O’Neill is also a contender and dropped a hint he could be around for longer.
And Shanghai Port’s Kevin Muscat is also in with a chance, according to bookmakers.

It’s only a couple of weeks ago that Muscat looked as though he was set for a sensational return to Ibrox.

Hoops’ celebrity star John Higgins believes that could actually pave the way for Muscat to make a shock move to the green half of Glasgow.
The four-time World Snooker champion actually lived next door to Muscat during his stay in Scotland between 2002 and 2003, and they’ve kept in touch ever since.
When the Wizard of Wishaw was asked on talkSPORT who he would like to see the job being given to, he said: “I’m on the way out to Shanghai, and I hope to go and have a coffee with an old next-door neighbour of mine from when he played with Rangers.
“And I heard that it could be Muscat, he could be coming to Celtic.
“There’s one for you. I heard he pulled out (from Rangers) because he was wanting to stay in China.
“And obviously Martin and Shaun are in, and they might be waiting on Muscat. So who knows.”
Bookies chalk up Muscat at around 8/1 to 10/1, which is slightly behind Club Brugge head coach Nicky Hayen and ahead of Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen and Wales boss Craig Bellamy.
Ferencvaros boss Robbie Keane is third favourite behind Postecoglou and McKenna.
