By Rubén Morales Iglesias: ⚽️ The Orange Walk Football Association 2025–2026 1st Division Opening Championship resumes after the Christmas break with two highly anticipated semifinal clashes on January 11, 2026, at the Louisiana Government Primary School Football Field in Orange Walk. The semifinals will be played over two legs, with the decisive return matches scheduled for January 18 at the same venue.
The opening semifinal on January 11 features subchampions San Jose Pumas FC, who take the field at 3:00 pm against a disciplined and confident Louisiana FC side. The Pumas arrive with strong attacking form, led by quarterfinal scoring leader Justin Cardenas, while Louisiana FC enters the series with momentum after a composed defensive showing in the previous round.
At 5:00 pm, defending champions Yo Creek United FC begin their title defense in the semifinals against Progresso FC Amateur, a team that delivered one of the most dominant aggregate wins of the quarterfinals. Yo Creek’s experience and structure will be tested by a Progresso squad that has shown both firepower and resilience.
With Yo Creek United and San Jose Pumas placed on opposite sides of the bracket, the possibility of a finals rematch remains alive—though both challengers have proven they are capable of altering the championship storyline.
The semifinal winners will advance to a single-match Grand Final, where the 2025–2026 Opening Championship title will be decided.
Football returns on January 11, and the road to the crown is wide open.
