By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The race for the Orange Walk Football Association 1st Division Closing Championship title intensifies as the tournament moves into the semifinal stage. Four teams remain, with two-legged clashes set to determine who will advance to the final.


The semifinals kick off on Sunday, May 4 at Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk. The first leg will see:
· Mi Gente vs. Yo Creek United – Kickoff at 3:00 p.m.
· San Jose Pumas vs. Progresso FC – Kickoff at 5:00 p.m.
Mi Gente secured their semifinal spot after edging San Estevan Soccer Team on a 4-3 aggregate, despite losing the second leg 3-2. They now face a tough challenge against Yo Creek United, who cruised past Sandy Field Wolverines with an 8-0 victory, advancing on a 10-1 aggregate.
Meanwhile, San Jose Pumas booked their place by defeating Trial Farm Legends 2-0, progressing on a 4-2 aggregate after a hard-fought first leg draw. They will now take on Progresso FC, who remain undefeated in the tournament. Progresso dismantled Guinea Grass FC in their quarterfinal, advancing with an 8-0 aggregate after their second leg ended prematurely due to Guinea Grass running out of players.
After the first leg on May 4, the second leg of the semifinals will determine the finalists, setting the stage for an intense battle for the championship trophy.
