MANCHESTER UNITED legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have voiced worries about the club’s backroom staff.
They say the team is losing its traditional identity as more former Manchester City staff join Old Trafford.
Both agree that Ruben Amorim’s time as head coach is limited.
Butt said: “It’s going to happen sooner or later, I can’t see it turning around.”
They also acknowledged that United have made some poor signings in recent years, but their biggest worry is the growing influence of staff with City backgrounds.
Scholes explained: “You’ve got Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada and others who previously worked at City.

“I don’t think Manchester United should be doing that.
“City have been successful for a long time so it’s understandable to want some of that but it’s not really what a Manchester United person would want. Probably not what the fans want either.”
Scholes went on to say that the club is losing touch with its DNA: “There’s nobody there who really understands what it means to be a Manchester United player.
“Darren Fletcher is the only one who knows what it’s like to be at the club. You don’t always have to be the best player but you have to have the character to play for United.”

The trend is noticeable in the academy as well. The latest recruit, Stephen Torpey, worked under Wilcox at City before joining United’s academy.
He replaced Nick Cox, who left to take a role at Everton.
Butt commented on the situation: “It’s surprising how many former City staff have come to Man United.
“That wouldn’t happen at other big clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
Both Scholes and Butt feel the club should focus on bringing in coaches with strong ties to United, highlighting Kieran McKenna, now Ipswich manager, as a positive example.
Butt said: “But at the moment, there’s really no one from United’s history involved except Darren Fletcher.”
United take on Liverpool in the Premier League later today with the Reds hoping to build on their win against Sunderland before the break.
