Pickleball Cayman is gearing up for a thrilling weekend as the BLACKwater Team Cup brings 16 top professionals from the Association of Pickleball Players to the island.
This event promises intense competition and a fresh, team-based format never before seen in Cayman, featuring an exciting lineup of pros including Megan Fudge, Jack Munro, Susannah Barr, Ryler DeHeart, Bobbi Oshiro, Tanner Tomassi, Sofia Sewing, Max ‘Purple Jesus’ Manthou, Shelby Bates, Andre Mick, Emilia Schmidt, Casey Diamond, Amanda Hendry, Jack Foster, Riley Bohnert and Ben Newell.
The event, hosted at the Pickleball Cayman club on Smith Road, kicks off Friday, 13 June at 5:00pm, mixing professional and amateur play.
This unique opportunity allows Pickleball Cayman members the opportunity to team up with a pro for an evening of fun, competitive play through a bidding process starting at a minimum of $200.
Participants are assured at least five matches, and a higher bid grants priority in selecting a pro. No charge is applied if a player does not get paired with a pro.
The main event, the BLACKwater Team Cup, unfolds on Saturday and Sunday with admission-free matches starting at 1pm on both days. All games will use rally scoring to 21.
Local captains will draft the eight male and eight female professionals into four distinct teams, each comprising two male and two female pros.
These teams will engage in head-to-head competition throughout Saturday, playing dynamic, back-to-back round-robin matches.
Sunday will determine the champions during the playoff rounds with the semi-finals starting at 1pm and the final at 5pm.
For those who can’t make it to the courts, a live stream of the matches will be available on Pickleball Cayman’s YouTube channel.
