Police said today that people involved in a double murder last night fired “indiscriminately” in a bar where patrons were enjoying themselves.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Smith said that video footage will be released in the hope that residents can help identify persons of interest who attended Legends sports bar.
Two people — a woman aged about 33 and a man aged 29 — were killed in the incident and three others were injured, one of whom has since been discharged from hospital.
Mr Smith said that at about 10.30pm the Bermuda Police Service received several 911 calls reporting a shooting at the bar in Somerset.
Officers attended and found a number of people with multiple gunshot wounds.
Mr Smith said: “At the time of the shooting, we know from our investigation, there were about 14 patrons that were inside of the sports bar. They were enjoying themselves and socialising for their night.
“As a result of our lines of inquiry so far, we can confirm that there are four suspects, four persons of interest.
“We believe that those men were two-up on a motorcycle that travelled to the Legends sports bar and they departed on the same motorcycles and they headed in what we believe is a westerly direction.
“This particular incident is disturbing to us because shots were fired — we believe — indiscriminately at those inside of the club and unfortunately two persons have lost their lives.”
The detective said that of the three injured people, one was “more critical” but none had life-threatening injuries.
Mr Smith added that video footage will be released to the public as police ask residents whether they can recognise people of interest who went into the bar and then left.
