The CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League resumed play for week six on 1 Nov. after the mid-term break granted the young footballers a short breather.
Group A of the Primary Football League saw First Baptist Christian School face two different sides. In the under-9 encounter, they took on Sir John A. Cumber Primary School 9B.
Sir John A. Cumber 9B initially took the lead when Rashon Roberts struck in the 18th minute.
The determined First Baptist side pressed hard for the equalizer, and Kai Doctor broke through in the 30th minute.
With scoring chances at a minimum thereafter, the match concluded in a 1-1 draw.
The excitement continued for First Baptist in the under-11 contest against Cayman International School 11 Blue, which turned into a high-scoring affair.
Nigel Morgan of First Baptist got his school off to a flying start, scoring in the 23rd and 25th minutes to secure a 2-0 lead.
However, Cayman International School (CIS) 11 Blue found their form in the second half, responding with four quick goals. Charlie Russell scored twice, in the 30th and 32nd minutes, with Liam Remizowski scoring in the 31st and Lee Russell adding a fourth in the 35th minute.
Charlie Burch sealed the three points for CIS 11 Blue with a fifth goal in the 41st minute.
Although Nigel Morgan completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the 44th minute, the goal only narrowed the deficit, as CIS 11 Blue held on to defeat the visitors 5-3.
In another group A under-9 division match, Cayman Prep 9B defeated Marie Martin Primary School 4-0.
Other group A under-11 results saw Cayman Prep and High School 11B draw 2-2 with Marie Martin Primary; Sir John A. Cumber Primary down CIS 11 White 6-2; St. Ignatius Catholic School get past Theoline L. McCoy Primary School 3-1; and Joanna Clarke Primary School defeat Grace Christian Academy 4-0.
In group B under-9 games, Footsteps School downed Red Bay Primary School 3-1, and Prospect Primary School defeated Island Primary 9B 4-0.
The group B under-11 results included Red Bay Primary getting past Footsteps School 4-1; Prospect Primary and NorthEast Schools sharing the points in a 1-1 draw; and Cayman Prep 11A beating Cayman Brac 4-0.
The Girls’ Primary Football League saw Marie Martin Primary and Cayman Prep GB of group A sharing the points after a 1-1 draw, and Sir John A. Cumber Primary downing CIS Girls White 4-0.
The only group B game saw the young ladies from Island Primary defeat CIS Girls Blue 2-1.
Week seven games are set for 8 Nov and will be played at Island Primary, Camana Bay SC, West Bay Town Hall Field, Annex Field, Red Bay Primary, and Prospect Primary.
