ONE lucky racing punter woke up almost £50,000 richer after their ‘extraordinary’ six-fold bet featuring just ONE winner came in.
The £5 each-way poke – £10 in all – took in nags from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Newbury last weekend.

Amazingly it was only the last leg of the six-fold that went in as a winner, with the rest placing at huge prices.
And the punter benefitted from the Best Odds Guaranteed promise made by bookies.
Great Fleet got the ball rolling by placing at 25-1 at Cheltenham, before Dan and Harry Skelton’s Hoe Joly Smoke did the same in the next at 18s.
Figjam came in the places at Doncaster at 2.40pm before it was back over to the home of jumps to see Supremely West finish a staying-on third in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle.
Richard Fahey – who sent out record-breaking 200-1 Powerful Glory to win the Champions Sprint on Champions Day – was responsible for the fifth leg coming in.
The winning bet
Doncaster – 2.40pm: Figjam (12-1) – 2nd
Newbury – 3.10pm: Arabian Desert (16-1) – 2nd
Newbury – 3.45pm: Hamish (1102) – 1st
Cheltenham – 1.45pm: Great Fleet (25-1) – 2nd
Cheltenham – 2.20pm: Hoe Joly Smoke (16-1) – 3rd
Cheltenham – 2.55pm: Supremely West (18-1) – 3rd
Total stakes: £10 (£5 each-way sixfold)
Total returns: £47,351.56
That was Arabian Desert at Newbury, who finished second in the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury under Rossa Ryan.
It meant it all hinged on William Haggas’ mud-lover Hamish placing in the Group 3 St Simon Stakes at 3.45pm.
He made steady headway under Tom Marquand and kept on well to bag the £42,000 winning-prize.

Coincidentally that was £5,000 less than this punter got, with their total £10 bet returning an incredible £47,351.56.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the William Hill Showcase and William Hill Futurity Trophy meetings, but waking up to this bet has somewhat taken the shine off it!
“However, we can’t hide our admiration for this punter’s work.
“To turn a £5 each-way sixfold into nearly £50,000 is sensational work, especially so given the bet featured just one winner.
“It once again goes to show the value of Best Odds Guaranteed for punters.
“However, let’s not take anything away from this feat, as this bettor has pulled off an extraordinary bet here, so we take our hats off to them!”
