ANDY FIRTH became a massive cult hero during his time at Rangers even if he rarely made it onto the field.
The former Liverpool kid was snapped up by Steven Gerrard from Barrow but made just one appearance for the Gers during his three-year spell with the Gers.
Largely third-choice goalkeeper during his stint, his only appearance came in May 2019 on the final day of the season against Kilmarnock, when he replaced an injured Wes Foderingham.
But he was often spotted giving it large in the club’s celebrations and said on his departure that it was the “best time of my life” and that he had “lived the dream” at Ibrox.
Firth’s time working with Gerrard wasn’t done yet as he headed out to reunite with him in Saudi Arabia in 2024 as a goalkeeping coach for Al-Ettifaq afte two years with Connah’s Quay Nomads in Wales.
Now he’s been giving his opinion on what a second coming for Gerrard could mean at Rangers as the former Ibrox gaffer meets his potential new paymasters at a mystery destination in London.

Speaking from Saudi, First told the Daily Record: “I obviously loved my time at Rangers and still watch as many of the games as I can.
“This is a team that is clearly low on confidence. You can see that from the performances and the results.
“But if Steven does get the job, I’d 100 percent back him to help this set of players.
“He’s a real leader who drove standards and made progress year on year in his spell last time at the club and I’d think with his experience now, he’d be in an even better position to do it again.
“For me it’s been a big learning experience over here in Saudi and I’m sure it was for him too.
“Like he said in his interview with Rio Ferdinand this week, dealing with different cultures and also going through four or five different assistant coaches in his 18 months here will have provided different challenges for him as a manager that I’m sure will make him better.
“I haven’t spoke to Steven in a little while and haven’t asked him at all about the news coming out or Rangers, but we had plenty of chats in the time over here about our time at Ibrox.
“We spoke about some of the great games and great times we had in Glasgow and I was really intrigued to find out more of the staff side of things he went through at the club.
“Being on the coaching side of things with him over here was a great experience and something I loved, but also hearing the stories that Steven, Tom Culshaw and Mick Beale told was something I cherished.”
