RANGERS are reportedly set to miss out on landing a defender from Manchester City.
That’s because he’s set to land an £8million move elsewhere.
Rangers have added a number of new defenders this summer under new boss Russell Martin.
Centre-backs Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez have been joined by full-backs Max Aarons and Jayden Meghoma.
But Martin is keen to further bolster his backline.
A deal for Real Betis centre-back Nobel Mendy looked close but fell through amid reported issues flagged by his medical.

And now, another central defender the Gers are said to have been interested in his heading elsewhere.
According to The Athletic, Rangers were one of the clubs interested in signing Callum Doyle from Manchester City.
The 21-year old has come through the youth ranks at the Etihad.
While he hasn’t made a first team appearance for the English Premier League giants, he has had extensive experience elsewhere.
Doyle has had successful loan stints at Sunderland, Coventry, Leicester and Norwich over the past four seasons.
The latter three of those spells came in the Championship and that’s where he looks set to stay.
The report says England youth international Doyle is closing in on a bumper £8million switch to Wrexham.
Sheffield United are also said to have been interested in Doyle.
Doyle featured in a pre-season friendly for City against Celtic in the United States last summer.
And before the game, he revealed it was a ‘dream’ to take on the Hoops.
He said: “I’ve always dreamed since I was a little kid to play against Celtic.
“Since I was watching the derbies between Celtic and Rangers, I feel like it’ll be a good game, a good test and a good battle.”
Rangers have already seen one defensive target move to Wrexham this summer.

The Light Blues were heavily linked with a move for former England defender Conor Coady during the early weeks of the transfer window.
But the experienced centre-back instead joined the Welsh club in a £2m deal.
