RANGERS will formally open talks with Steven Gerrard in the next 24 hours over a stunning return to Ibrox.
The Liverpool and England legend left the club for Aston Villa four years ago but we told you on Tuesday how he IS interested in a sensational return to Glasgow.

And now it seems Rangers’ new owners, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, are poised to make the deal happen.
An Ibrox delegation are in London tonight with meetings scheduled over the next few days as they close in on an appointment ahead of the Gers’ Premiership clash vs Dundee United NEXT weekend.
Gerrard was quoted in a podcast interview with former England pal Rio Ferdinand yesterday saying he had “unfinished business” in management – and that Rangers were the perfect fit.
He’s been living in Bahrain since his time at Saudi club Al-Ettifaq came to and end.

Gerrard said in that podcast interview that he wanted a club which will offer him the chance to win titles and that he was busily putting a team together for his next managerial opportunity.
Gers hero McCoist for one reckons it’s up to the legendary midfielder now to decide if he fancies a stunning Ibrox return.
Four years have passed since the 45-year-old departed the club for Aston Villa before going on to work at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
The likes of Derek McInnes and Kevin Muscat have also been linked with the post but now Gers hero McCoist reckons only one thing can stand in the way of a sensational return – Gerrard himself.
Rangers’ record goalscorer McCoist said: “If he wants it, it’s his.”
Ferdinand saw the whites of his former England pal’s eyes as he hosted a podcast in the last few days and is convinced the hunger is back.
He’s predicting the 2021 Scottish Premiership title winning boss will blow the Ibrox hierarchy away in interviews
Gerrard, without a job after leaving Al Ettifaq in January, is predominantly based in Bahrain with his family despite leaving Saudi Arabian club side Al-Ettifaq nine months ago.
But Ferdinand reckons he could be Rangers manager VERY soon.
Ferdinand told TalkSPORT: “I have to say when I interviewed him he left me in no uncertain terms that he wants to become a manager, has full confidence in doing that and is itching to get back in now.
“He never said this to me but I personally think that with the energy in that room if Rangers came calling he would go.
“He would at least have that conversation.
“When I get to sit down with these guys I get to pick at them and understand them.
