The CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League playoffs continued to unfold on 29 Nov. with the quarter-final stage of the 2025 playoffs determining which top seeds would march into the semi-finals.
Champions Cup
With the Girls’ Consolation Cup going straight to the semi-final stage, the Girls’ Champions Cup was the initial focus.
Sir John A. Cumber Primary beat Red Bay Primary 4-0 and NorthEast School overcame CIS Girls White 3-0, giving them top seed positions.
The other two closely contested quarterfinals saw Joanna Clarke Primary School triumph over Island Primary 1-0, and Cayman Prep GA edge past St. Ignatius Catholic 2-1. This sets up two semi-final clashes with Sir John A. Cumber Primary facing Cayman Prep GA and NorthEast Schools meeting Joanna Clarke Primary for a place in the final.
Primary under-9 Consolation Cup
In the CUC Primary Football League under-9 Consolation Cup, teams like Joanna Clarke Primary and Island Primary 9B received byes directly to the semi-final stage due to their regular season league positions.
Other teams securing semi-final spots were Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9A who defeated their B-team 4-0, and Marie Martin Primary, who downed First Baptist CS 2-0.
The semi-finals will feature Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9A against Joanna Clarke Primary, and Marie Martin Primary battling Island Primary 9B.
Primary under-9 Champions Cup
The Primary Football League under-9 Champions Cup quarterfinals featured top-seeded Cayman Prep 9A securing a win against their B-team with a 5-1 scoreline, Island Primary 9A narrowly beating Red Bay Primary 1-0 through a last-minute penalty, while Prospect Primary secured a 2-1 win over CIS 9 White.
The encounter between St. Ignatius Catholic and Footsteps School finished 0-0 after full time and extra time, with St. Ignatius Catholic eventually prevailing 1-0 in a penalty-shootout.
The semi-final fixtures will see Island Primary 9A take on Prospect Primary, and St. Ignatius Catholic face Cayman Prep 9A.
Primary under-11 Consolation Cup
Due to the increased number of schools this season, the Primary Football League under-11 Consolation Cup saw a playoff game played on 25 Nov. between Footsteps School who defeated newcomers Grace Christian Academy 4-0 to secure their quarter-final spot.
In Saturday’s quarterfinals, Cayman Prep 11B defeated Footsteps School 5-2, Cayman Brac beat CIS 11 White 3-2, Joanna Clarke Primary overcame NorthEast Schools 4-0, and Red Bay Primary edged out Theoline L. McCoy Primary 1-0.
The semi-finals will feature Joanna Clarke Primary facing Red Bay Primary and Cayman Brac taking on Cayman Prep 11B.
Primary under-11 Champions Cup
The Primary Football League under-11 Champions Cup quarterfinals saw defending champions Cayman Prep 11A overcome Sir John A. Cumber Primary 3-1.
St. Ignatius Catholic secured a 3-1 victory over First Baptist CS, while defending under-11 Consolation Cup champions Marie Martin Primary beat 2024 finalists Prospect Primary 2-0. Island Primary claimed their spot after a 1-0 win against CIS 11 Blue.
The semi-final will feature Cayman Prep 11A against St. Ignatius Catholic and Marie Martin Primary facing Island Primary.
The stage is now set for the 2025 CUC Primary Football League/Girls’ Primary Football League semi-finals on 6 Dec. with all playoff games continuing at the Annex Field.
The season will conclude the following Saturday with the finals, third-place games, and the trophy presentation.
