The Ministry of Sports Business League Football competition lit up multiple venues across the island on Saturday with comfortable wins for Royalton Strikers and UWI Frigate Bird FC.
Both teams triumphed with identical 4-2 victories. Royalton Strikers overcame Automotive Art in what proved to be an entertaining six-goal thriller, while UWI Frigate Bird FC dispatched CMC with an equally impressive display of attacking football.
The day’s action featured numerous tightly contested matches which saw the likes of chart-toppers HMP United edge SkyTiger Services 2-1 at Radio Range that saw goals from HMP United’s Stephen Roberts in the 17th minute and Errol Barnes (of HMP) in minute 47, while Fresh Acres Enterprise secured the same scoreline against Hodges Bay. The Ministry of Tourism also claimed a 2-1 victory over the Ministry of Agriculture and APUA Telecoms defeated AS Bryden’s Green Acres 3-1 at Johnsons Playfield.
At Jennings Playfield, SVRS held off JH Stingers with a narrow 2-1 win, while Hermitage Bay blanked Villa Tech Enterprise 2-0 in the day’s only shutout victory.
Several matches ended in draws, showcasing the competitive balance throughout the league. The most dramatic was the 3-3 thriller between A&B Port Authority and Immigration at Keithley Sheppard Recreational Park, a game that featured six goals and plenty of end-to-end action.
PW Asphalt and Blue Waters played to a 2-2 draw, while three matches ended in 1-1 stalemates. SJDC and Sandals couldn’t be separated, Postal Services and A&B Airport Authority shared the points at Golden Grove Playfield, and Cocos Hotel battled APCMOL to a draw in another evenly matched contest.
The only scoreless draw came between NHD Demolition Squad and Galley Bay Ballers, as both defensive units proved impenetrable throughout the match.
